The CW has issued a full season order to newcomer "The Vampire Diaries" while "Melrose Place" is getting five additional installments.
Both received sсript commitments last month (read the story), making said development not much of a surprise. The orders bring their season counts to 22 and 18 episodes, respectively.
"Diaries" was the netlet's most-watched show last week, averaging 3.9 million viewers and a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49.
"Melrose" conversely has struggled as last night's episode drew just 1.52 million viewers and a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49. Both numbers were off more than 35% from its "90210" lead-in (2.36 million viewers, 1.1 rating among adults 18-49).
